JAPANESE ARUARU
A local friend sharing a room may watch a Japanese traveler arrange tea sachets on the desk, then inspect the shelves and peer underneath. The tea is ready for its hotel break. The kettle, however, has yet to join the trip.
A Japanese traveler may order in another language, then finish with an automatic “arigatou.” An attempt to try again produces another “arigatou.” The server has already handed over the cup. The thank-you is taking longer than the order.
