JAPANESE ARUARU
At check-in, a Japanese traveler may turn their passport toward the receptionist just as the receptionist reaches to turn it too. Both hands briefly hover over the same page. After a long journey, the passport has one more little rotation to make.
A Japanese traveler may order in another language, then finish with an automatic “arigatou.” An attempt to try again produces another “arigatou.” The server has already handed over the cup. The thank-you is taking longer than the order.
