JAPANESE ARUARU
A Japanese traveler may order in another language, then finish with an automatic “arigatou.” An attempt to try again produces another “arigatou.” The server has already handed over the cup. The thank-you is taking longer than the order.
Tell a Japanese traveler to enjoy the trip, and you might hear “You too!” A few steps later, they turn back with a sheepish smile. The server is still behind the counter, having just been wished a wonderful holiday at work.
